🎶 Music Never Stops at the Conservatory—See What’s Next!

Thank-you to everyone who came out to our Grand Unveiling concert to help us celebrate the new grand piano! Our piano silent auction was also a success with 8 pianos going to new homes and $2000 raised for the Conservatory. We’re very grateful to P.S. Pianos for donating the pianos and getting them moved in and out!

If the last month wasn’t exciting enough for you, then check out what we’ve got coming up!

Lessons and programs galore…

It’s not too late to register for lessons! Many private teachers still have space in their schedules and a few of Erica Skowron’s groups still have space available. If you like to sing, but don’t feel ready to jump into a choir or private lessons, check out her Joy of Singing group on Tuesdays 7-8pm. If you’ve got a youngster who needs music in their life (and you want to learn alongside them), you’ll be happy to hear that Erica has added an additional Sunbeams 1 class (5 and 6 year olds) on Saturdays 3:30-4:30pm, and she still has space in her Sunshine 1 class (4 year olds) on Saturdays 2:30-3:30pm.

The PG Symphony Youth Orchestra was back making music this past weekend, but it’s not too late to join the fun! They’ve got a fabulous fall planned culminating with “Celtic Christmas” - a concert collaborating with the Old Time Fiddlers.

We’re super excited about the Songwriting Workshop we have coming up Oct. 17th-20th! Youth ages 10–18 will explore lyric writing, improvisation, and performance with acclaimed songwriter Corwin Fox and Juno-nominated artist Kym Gouchie. The workshop wraps up with a concert for friends and family. Space is limited to 12 participants. Cost is $150, and bursaries are available! A big thank-you to Kiwanis for their financial support!

Maggie Corbett will be offering a new class for kids interested in trying out a string instrument without the commitment of starting private lessons! Strings for Me! will be on Mondays 5:00-5:45pm and will start Oct. 20th

Our adult guitar groups are starting up again! The intermediate jam group will be on Wednesdays 7-8pm starting Oct. 15th. The beginner group is on Mondays 6-7pm and starting on Oct. 20th.

Paul Harris will also be starting a group called Practical Theory. This class is for participants of any level who might find themselves asking: How do keys work, and what are they? What is major vs minor? What is the difference between D major, D minor, D7, and—Heaven forbid—D7b5 chords? Why do certain chords seem to go together? Why is 6/8 different than 3/4; What exactly is harmony? No prior knowledge of music theory is necessary, but participants should be familiar with the first seven letters of the alphabet. Knowing Paul, this class is going to be much more entertaining than your average theory class! It’s on Mondays 7:15-8:15pm and starts on October. 20th.
