PG Symphony Youth Orchestra

The PGSYO is a cooperative venture of the PG Symphony Orchestra and the PG Conservatory of Music to provide the youth of the city and surrounding communities the opportunity to experience the joy of making orchestral music, develop relationships with peers and develop as musicians. 

If you are a string player under the age of 25 the Prince George Symphony Youth Orchestra is for you! String players of all levels are welcome; you'll be put into a group that best suits your level and interests. Here are a few of the reasons we hope you will consider participating:

ENJOY meeting and playing marvelous music with other youth from your community with similar interests.

LEARN valuable musical skills such as listening, timing, intonation and more.

STUDY with our fabulous music director Roxi Dykstra and co-director Maggie Corbett.

Registration is now open for our 2026/2027 season! New and returning students, please fill out the application form, followed by the registration form.

Cost: Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the majority of tuition is covered for the semester. Students are only responsible for a $120 annual fee, plus a $10 registration fee for those who are not already studying at the Conservatory.

Time: Regular rehearsals are Mondays 6:30-8:30pm (junior players dismissed at snack break)

Fall session: 
Sept. 21st-Dec. 4th 
Concert: Celtic Christmas, Dec. 5th

Spring session:
March 19-21: PGSYO Kick-off 
March 22: Monday regular rehearsals begin (schedule as above)
