Since our formation in 2017, Cantora Alegre has grown from a small group of twelve singers to a three-time winner at the Performing Arts of BC festival. Throughout this journey, our primary mission has remained the same: to sing together in a supportive and joyful atmosphere, just as our name—meaning "Joyful Songstress" in Portuguese—suggests.

We are thrilled to announce that Cantora Alegre is starting a new chapter by joining the Conservatory of Music. Our treble choir will continue to perform under the direction of choral director Kathy Pereira, exploring a diverse repertoire ranging from madrigals to traditional and contemporary works. Weekly rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7:15 - 9 pm, including statutory holidays.

If you are interested in joining this positive and vibrant community of singers, auditions will be held at our Open House on Monday, September 14, at 7:15 pm at the Conservatory of Music. Currently our group is seeking soprano singers. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing our music.
