Bursaries and Scholarships
THANKS TO GENEROUS DONORS WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE $7200 IN TUITION FOR 16 LOW INCOME STUDENTS AND OVER $3600 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO 13 OF OUR MOST DEDICATED STUDENTS.
One of the bursary recipients had this to say about the support they received:
“With the rising costs of living at every turn, we were unsure if we would be able to continue to finance both of our sons’ participation at the Conservatory. Receiving these funds allowed both of our boys to grow friendships with classmates, be continuously inspired by their music instructor and activate their young brains. We truly feel the bursary program has given us an opportunity to challenge and grow our boys in ways that other extra-curricular activities could not. The entire experience has been nothing but positive, and for this, we are truly grateful.”

Our Scholarship Competition had 32 participants from level 1 to 10 and was adjudicated by Eli Klasner. The competition gives students valuable feedback and the awards encourage students in their musical journey.
With the support of our generous donors, our PG Community Foundation Endowment Fund now exceeds $21,000, and as it grows, we anticipate a future where the Conservatory becomes more self- sustaining and can offer even more bursaries and scholarships.
Composer-In-Residence
AWARD WINNING COMPOSER CHRISTINE DONKIN JOINS OUR 40TH ANNIVERSARY AS COMPOSER-IN-RESIDENCE!
Thanks to a grant from the PG Community Foundation we were able to offer free composing workshops with Ms. Donkin as well as partner with the PG and District Music Festival to offer a special composition class with local composer, Simon Cole.
We commissioned Ms Donkin to compose a piece to commemorate our anniversary, and it was premiered at our faculty concert. Winners of the Scholarship Competition and Festival Composition Class also performed at that concert.

Giving Back To Our Community

Students performing for the residents at Gateway Complex Care
As always our faculty was busy contributing to the musical life of our community as part of the PGSO, Alban Classical and the PG Cantata Singers. Our faculty continue to make high quality live music available to everyone in our community regardless of income level by putting on 8 very well-attended concerts - all of which were pay-what-you-can admission.
Thanks in part to grants from the City of PG our faculty and students brought music out into our community with 13 concerts to seniors in care homes and 3 concerts to elementary schools.
“When the musicians play, you could hear a pin drop, the residents are so engaged. After the performance the residents have been heard saying, “Oh my that was lovely!” or “What a special treat!” Music for those suffering from Dementias and loneliness have such a positive impact on the residents emotional state. It is simply too special to put into words.”
