We want to start by welcoming all of our new and returning students—we’re excited to be making music with all of you!
We also want to take a moment to honour a few key volunteers who have made a big difference to the Conservatory this summer. If you’ve been to the Conservatory over the last couple of weeks, you will have noticed the lovely new garden, which has really brightened up our entrance. Anne Allgaier, Kasper Walraven and Anne Muirhead put in a huge amount of time into the planning and execution of this project, and we’re so pleased with the result!
If these amazing volunteers have inspired you, we have a few ways you could hop on board the Conservatory volunteer train! We’re looking for approximately ten people who are handy with push pins and tape to put up posters for our upcoming concerts and new programs. Each person is given a part of town with approximately six locations to hang posters approximately seven times per year. If this sounds like something you’d like to help with, head over to volunteersignup.org/FFA4M to claim your spot! The Conservatory will be at Studio Fair (Oct. 30–Nov. 1) again this year and could use help staffing our info table. We’re also looking for students who would like to perform. If you’d like to help with the booth, please respond to this email. If you’d like to perform, speak to your teacher, as they may have a time slot already reserved. Finally, our AGM is coming up on Nov. 6, so this is a great time to consider joining our board of directors! We have a fantastic group right now, but there’s space for one or two more members. We’re specifically looking for people interested in fundraising. Our board meets once a month for about 90 minutes. If you’re interested in hearing more, respond to this email or speak to Jody! If you’re a full-year student at the Conservatory, you will have been the beneficiary of another volunteer’s hard work. Our new student planners are working out wonderfully as a way to make lesson notes, keep track of important dates and goals, etc. This project was the brainchild of Birgit Allgaier, who put the whole thing together, including taking new headshots of our faculty and finding advertisers. This was a huge project, and we are so thankful for her countless volunteer hours in making it happen!
